Weeeeeelllll...It's not as bad as I was fearing. At least it's not the generic arched structure like Carolina Place or Haywood Mall.

I can't deal with the mansard roof on the sides. That's my sticking point. The rest of the store is really well done so far, but that little detail flubs up the composititon.
ReplyDeleteWithout progress, you get stagnation, and that store was already stuck in the '80s. Still, Dillard's SouthPark was so much more distinctive before...seems wrong to graft this design on that building.
I'm so glad you added my photos! The mansard gets me too though. I will miss the former facade greatly

ReplyDeleteIt seems like a simple cornice would have been more tasteful than the mansard. It cheapens the design.
