mall and department store photography bordering on the obsessive.
Why doesn't the one at Southpark look this cool?
ReplyDeleteThat's a good question. Nordstrom uses certain store prototypes over and over then moves on to next one. Southpoint was one of the prototypes from 2000-2002 (there are at least a half-dozen stores that look like it), then the look changed to the one SouthPark sports.
ReplyDeleteEven without the tower structure, that Nordstrom is still a rather handsome building. Their store designers have a knack for properly 'warming up' the conventional department store building.
ReplyDeleteThey do an excellent job. They're virtually surprise-free, but their consistency and quality make up for that.
ReplyDeleteThats a nice Nordies. It looked even better in person. The one at Mall of Georgia is exactly like it but I am not sure which others are like this one. I think Barton Creek Square's Nordstrom is just like this one.
ReplyDeleteI think the Dulles Town Center store outside DC looks like this, too.
ReplyDeleteI think that the one in Chandler, AZ also looks like that.
ReplyDeleteThe one at the Mall in Columbia is too.

They built quite a few, to be sure.
ReplyDeleteI never realized how many they did like that. The ones I know of so far:
ReplyDeleteColumbia, MD
Columbus, OH
Buford, GA
Durham, NC
Austin, TX
Dulles, VA and I am sure there are more.
Which new design do you like better? The ones like at Aventura and SouthPark or the ones like at NorthPark and Topanga?
The SouthPark style is more timeless than the NorthPark style.
