Is it just me, or does this store look almost exactly like the Bloomingdale's (former Davison's) at Perimeter mall? Both stores were built at roughly the same this (this one in 1981, the Perimeter Davison's in '82)
I think there was some sort of affiliation between the two stores back then.
I worked at Macy's KOP in the early 90s. We still had old blue 3-tier carts with the Bamberger's name stenciled on the back used to transport boxes from gift wrap to "wrap & pack" for ground shipment. The former restaurant upstairs was converted into MACY WOMAN and the kitchen was used for Electronics Department storage (stereos, boomboxes, speakers).
I kind of like the stores with the star better.
ReplyDeleteThis one is a classic. It hasn't been touched since it was built, save for the Macy's conversion in the late '80s.
ReplyDeleteVery, very cool! That mall is definitely one of the greats!
ReplyDeleteI agree. I love just about everything about the King of Prussia malls!

Macy's and Davison's were the same company in 1982, so the resemblance is not a coincidence.
