Display World magazine; June 1968 |
LiveMalls is honored to present an article from the 1968 edition of
Display World magazine that described the process and ideas behind the design of the iconic but recently retired.Belk and Leggett logos.
A friend of LiveMalls, Dave Aldrich, from the incomparable retail blog,
Pleasant Family Shopping, found this and sent it to me. It is truly a great addition to the blog and our
Belk Archive. Many thanks to Dave, and I hope that everyone will enjoy the read.
Now if only we could get them to go back to it...
ReplyDeleteYeah. That would be cool.
DeleteWhat logotype did Belk use prior to the late 1960s?
ReplyDeleteThey used a variety of typefaces and logos. Visually, it was a mess.
DeleteThat B says to me: childhood!
ReplyDeleteMe, too.
DeleteJust happened across your blog here via the Malls of America blog, and wanted to tell you what a great job you've done here. Thanks for sharing your appreciation of our nations malls with us. Us folks at the Harlem Irving Plaza - HIP Blog would love if you would drop by and possibly add us to your list of links here!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliments!
DeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteAny new posts coming soon?
ReplyDeleteThat's a good question. Most of the activity has moved over to the Facebook page at Facebook.com/LiveMalls, but you could see some new posts on here, too.
DeleteCan you do a post about Belk closing at Four Seasons Mall? I grew up near that mall and I am so sad about it closing.
ReplyDeleteI'll consider it.
DeleteThe old Belk logo is more stylish than the current one.
